It’s a strange experience writing with this ink: the colour and feel makes you expect the fragrance to come wafting up while you’re using it. It dries a bit darker than you might expect, but with a golden crushed-sesame wash… If you write with it don’t blame me if you get a craving for dumplings!

Lennon Tool Bar was founded in 2014 in Tamsui, Taiwan. Initially they produced and promoted the art and craft of Indigo Dyeing, a business that flourished a century ago when Taiwan exported a considerable amount of “doroai” — or the raw material of colorants used in Indigo Dyeing — to the Japanese Empire. In recent years, Lennon Tool Bar has launched a series of fountain pen inks in order to popularize colors used in Indigo Dyeing and to present the enduring beauty of traditional workmanship. They continue to share various facets of Taiwan’s culture through their thoughtfully curated collections of ink, with a new collection launching nearly every season of the year!

Sesame Oil is a delicious light brown shade with lovely shading.
