Notes from the study: The Harbor of Dieppe is a painting by JMW Turner, done in 1825. Wikipedia includes a quote about the piece: “a brilliant experiment in colours, which displays all the magic of skill at the expense of all the magic of nature,” which is a bit crap really. This painting is all light and movement; does a “lack of naturalism” detract from its aims? Regardless, this ink is pure sparkle, especially when it catches the light. Like a sunset reflecting on water.
